It's the weekend! [Feb. 3rd, 2007|11:12 pm]

Hey all, here's my update.

I've decided to put a strong push on getting some illustration jobs, so I've had to halt any work on web comics for the time being. I will have more about the webcomics later in this post however. I've started working on some promotional materials (a business card, postcard, samples, etc.) I'm almost done with my business card, I redid an illustration for the back of it and am working on one for the front currently. I'm pretty much going through and dusting off the portfolio and doing some new pieces. And I'm also redesigning my website, that is the hardest thing ever. I can design someone else a website in the blink of an eye, but I can not get a design I like for my own for anything. It's good times though and I'm really motivated.

Here's the illustration I'm using for the back of my business card. It's a scene from the Catcher in the Rye.

The other thing occupying my time the past few weeks is my house. I've been motivated to get some paint on some walls and make it look like a home. I've owned this place for a nearly a year now and have done little with the inside (although I've done a shit ton of work on the outside). So I've been spending my weekends painting it up, and doing a damn nice job if I do say so myself.

On the webcomic front, here's the deal. [info]ericfmyers and I are still working on the Imaginary. The first chapter is still on schedule to be out by the end of the winter. I've finished the foregrounds and [info]ericfmyers is working on the background, then I color it and it's out. The project will probably not continue as a webcomic however. The Imaginary was originally intended to be in print, with the Young Mikey stories running as a prequel to our story. We got too wrapped up in Young Mikey though to get work done on The Imaginary, so it sat there incomplete. We stopped Young Mikey to go back to our original material and may put out a new Young Mikey story here and there to give some backstory as needed. That's pretty much it on that project. As for Adhesive Man, it is his 15th anniversary and I plan on doing something special for that, but don't count on it until later in the year. His anniversary falls in September anyhow.

Lastly I wanted to bring something to the attention of my artist friends. The guy over at Comicspace.com is doing a phenomenal job putting some really useful features into the site. The new Gallery feature is fantastic and I know he has plans to make it even better. I've started posting my work there, so check it out and leave a comment if you'd be so kind. My Comicspace Page

Peace out.

PS. Oh yeah, tonight VH1 played "8 Mile" as part of it's Black History Month programming. It's a friggin movie about a white rapper, seemed out of place to me.

Adhesive Man in the Hurricane Relief Telethon [Oct. 22nd, 2006|09:09 pm]
[Tags|]

Ok, the telethon ended a year, one month and a few days ago, so I thought it would be ok to post my submission here in color.  I have to say it's not my best work, I drew up, inked it and colored it all in the same morning to get it in quick to Blank Label Comics.  An email went out asking for help that morning and we all know Adhesive Man can't sit around when there's  help to be had.  A wise man once said, "It never hurts to help."  Oh wait, that was Eek! the Cat, and yeah he always got hurt.  Well you get the point.

This is the color version of strip.  Blank Label put out the book in B&W and it is still available here if you are interested.  All proceeds from the sales of this compilation will go to the Red Cross to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina.  Oh yeah, and due to the rush job I did on the strip the word "safety" is mispelled as "saftey" in the book, my bad.

Back the the Drawing Board [Oct. 15th, 2006|10:16 am]

[Current Mood | artistic]

Ok, I decided to do a warm up before I get into drawing the new Imaginary strip.  To exercise my fingers I decided to redraw an old Adhesive Man gag strip I had scribbled on a piece of notebook paper to make some friends laugh way back in 1992.  For anyone reading that doesn't know, Adhesive Man is pretty much just sticky, and it doesn't usually come in handy.

Imaginary Update
- I've gone back and posted all of the Imaginary strips on this livejournal in their original posting date order today.  I also threw in the last complete strip that we never posted as well on the date it was supposed to post.

For anyone interested I decided to post the original version of this strip in the lj-cut below.  A couple of you may remember it.
